Five years ago Di (née Berkovitch) and James Rattle, a husband and wife team, started The Hermanus Brewing Co. and since then they have focused on creating delicious lager.
They have gone from strength to strength, doubling their capacity twice. In 2017 their Old Harbour Lager won gold at the National Beer Trophy Awards (they were up against some of the biggest breweries in the country), and in 2018, won gold again! They are the only brewery to win back-to-back gold for a lager.
This month Di won the Mayoral Award as Entrepreneur of the Year in the Overberg, a truly proud moment. “To create a brand, work with a great team, love what you do, and win awards and gold medals, is a dream realised and I’m so grateful,” Di said.
