2008 December

December 08 Cape Jewish Chronicle PDFAt the outset, I must explain the reason for the rather belated appearance of this issue on the web, needing, as it did to coincide with the postage of the ‘hard’ copies.

The paper was always intended to be posted later than all previous months, as it is a combined December/January edition and thus needs to be staggered somewhat, to offset the long wait for the February 2009 issue.

In this instance, however, while production was ready on time for home and web-postage by about 5 December, the technical part of the process was dramatically delayed by the repro house, causing a spiraling of delays at the printers and distributors. This latest public holiday on 16 December did not help matters.

For fear of the well known Shakespearean line: “Methinks the lady protesteth too much”, the subject will now be closed.

You have before you a large and colourful read that will probably take up more than the usual bandwidth. And since there is so much, no specific item will be highlighted in this ‘blurb’ other than the significant front page, the centre-spread ‘Miscellany of Memorable Moments of 2008’ – and the few ‘trailers’ featured below.

As it is pre-Channukah, we wish all you web readers out there Chag Sameach and a very pleasant end of 2008 season, whether it be sweltering in summer’s heat or shivering in winter’s cold.

We’ll be back on the web … early in Feb.
