Irma has been the one and only editor of the Chronicle since its inception 26 years ago, and the community honoured her invaluable work in bringing the heart and soul of the community to every Jewish household in Cape Town for over two decades. Irma’s knowledge, words and wit made the Chronicle into the popular publication that it is today in South Africa and around the world.
We also bade farewell to Ben-Zion Surdut, who retired as chairman of the Chronicle Editorial Board after 23 years. Ben’s wisdom and support have been invaluable to the Chronicle. Lester Hoffman has taken over as chairman of the Editorial Board, and we look forward to his expertise and leadership.
