The 19th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Children and Young People was held in Cape Town from 17 – 27 May. These performances took place at the Artscape, Baxter, City Hall as well as at Cultural Hubs in Atlantis, Gugulethu, Langa and Philipi.

Being the first such conference to be held on African soil it was an honour to meet and greet the Israeli contingent who were hosted to a cocktail gathering by the Israeli Embassy and the South African Zionist Federation (Cape Council) on Monday 22 May.

During the conference, five nominations from various countries were received for the Life Time Achievement Award. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Razi Amilai from Israel was the recipient of this award.
