2009 March

We must apologise to readers about the long delay in accessing of the pages of the February issue. In fact we were informed very late in the month that the body of the issue could not be downloaded. Since we heard of this informally and with no other complaints or strong protests, it does cause us to wonder if anyone out there is actually reading on-line!

Measures will be taken to ensure that this problem does not occur again – and we trust that web readers will download all the pages for the full experience. If you are one of our online readers, it would be nice if you got back to us via email – chron@ctjc.co.za – to reassure us that you are … reading us!

Having said all that, you should not be disappointed with this March issue, as there are some fine articles as well as a fascinating tale or two. We also close the door on a matter in the last issue that caused concern – regarding a letter in criticism of Habonim Dror – with a strong refutation Habonim Dror and an apology from the writer.

The fact that the Chronicle is a monthly publication does militate against robust and ‘immediate’ debate. It also makes for the covering of ‘old news’, with missed deadlines causing a delay to the following month’s issue. Some items are timeless, however, and some mature with age! And it seems it’s never too late for a happy wedding photograph.

Stay with us.

And now, without further ado, please note the articles highlighted below … and then … on with the show!
