Netzer creates a space for all

Netzer is affiliated with Progressive Judaism and a branch of an international movement, Netzer Olami. It is a dynamic, entirely youth-led and youth-organised body which works to provide the unique Netzer community a space of fun, learning and growing.

As a small movement, we pride ourselves on our family-like environment. One of our main aims is the Jewish notion of Tikkun Olam which we begin through Jewish education and community. The Jewish values of equality, tolerance and respect for all humanity are the core of our ideology, and help create our unique, warm atmosphere.

Our upcoming camp, Machaneh Kol HaNeshama derives from ‘Kol HaNeshama Te Hallel Ya’, (‘let everything that has a breath, praise the Lord.’) Why would we choose this as a camp name? The translation we have chosen to identify most with, is ‘All of the soul’; not only because we are so proud of our Judaism and the individual souls that we have been given, but also because we love the double meaning hidden in this sentence as we cater to everyone, to every soul. We are intelligent, we like to be barefoot, we like to organise, sing, dance, read, pray and play.

No one is too different, too Jewish, not Jewish enough, or ‘too’ anything for us! All singular souls connect and we create one very special and very distinctive Netzer-soul. In an effort to remain true to ourselves and our channichim, we have chosen a camp name that encompasses them all. Not only is Kol HaNeshama about praise for Hashem and a celebration of Progressive Judaism but it is also a celebration of those who give us a purpose to do what we do — the channichim.
