The Simcha Group of the Union of Jewish Women Cape Town recently held a very successful fundraiser Card Day Event which was held at the Western Province Bridge Club.

About 70 people joined in with an array of card and board games, the most popular being bridge. The morning began with enthusiastic ladies (and a few brave men!) arriving and filling up raffle sheets before settling into a serious game of cards.

This was followed by a delicious lunch and prize winning moments from the raffles drawn. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The proceeds of the event will go towards the Noluntu Soup Kitchen, the Simcha group’s pilot project. Noluntu provides a safe environment where children can go after school and is a place of hope, nurturing and safety. The children receive breakfast daily and on weekends they have cooked meals and a place to learn, eat and play. This project is driven by a very committed and dedicated woman Ria Boweni who has initiative and purpose and has created a community facility for the children in Khayelitsha.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our exceptional sponsors and the dedication of the Simcha Group UJW Cape Town.
