YAD’s Annual Golf Day tees off yet again

On Thursday 6 November YAD held its annual Corporate Charity Golf Day at the King David Golf Club.

This was YAD’s 7th such annual event and each year the committee strives to make it extra special. A golf day is a composite of many critical elements, a base requirement being passionate golfers — and thank goodness there is never a shortage of those!

A successful golf day must have the formation of vital partnerships, with a variety of supporters. YAD has fortunately been blessed with an abundance of open-hearted supporters, larger and smaller, and loyal stalwarts as well as brand new ones — all playing vital roles as part of the whole.

A list appears on these pages acknowledging all of the generous sponsors of this premier event. YAD honours them and also those companies and individuals who stepped up to the ‘tee’, by sponsoring wonderful prizes, goodie bag contents and delicious foodstuffs and refreshments.

Special mention is due to the two key sponsors Stenham and Macsteel — the rocks and ‘steel’ backbone respectively. YAD welcomed the delegation of Stenham’s key representatives from the UK, who entertained some of their Cape Town clients at our event.

The aromatic cappucinos by mobile coffee solutions company Coffeeright really set the tone for the day — welcoming, warm, strong, satisfying and delicious.

Comedian Nic Rabinowitz had everyone rolling on the floor out of breath with his antics at the prize giving. Uncontrollable laughter, sport and food is a combination that’s hard to beat.

Generous sponsors donated an array of great prizes for the top 8 teams, the longest day’s golf and for a variety of nearest to the pin and longest drive contests. The winners were the California Shutters/Gormil Four Ball.

A number of awesome raffle and lucky draw prizes ensured that the playing ‘course’ was somewhat levelled, with everybody having the opportunity to win something. In fact YAD’s Golf Day photographer Andrew Emdon managed to win a terrific package of desirable items, the first prize in the raffle.

Rounded off with an outstanding Merle Rubin buffet, fit for any carnivore, (and with sufficient victuals for the health conscious vegetarians too), this was a perfect end to a fabulous day.
