“The Voice of a Citizen” an exhibition of work by local artist Arlene Amaler-Raviv opened at the SAJM on 11 August.

The exhibition, officially opened by esteemed South African artist Willem Boshoff, was positioned throughout the museum, in one of the few times the museum has been given over so completely to an artist. Amaler-Raviv has excelled in filling the museum with an amazing variety of exceptional works in differing sizes and mediums. Amaler –Raviv has carefully curated a selection of 101 works that cover a large proportion of her extensive career. She has presented some of her most personal and intimate works, making this the seminal exhibition of her career.

Amaler-Raviv will be hosting a final walk-through of the exhibition on Friday 2 October, the day the exhibition closes. This is a rare opportunity to engage with the artist and gain an understanding of her motivations. Contact the SAJM should you wish to attend. A number of her works are also available for sale.
