2013 February

As we begin another year, it is a good time to look back at what has been accomplished, and look forward to what we can still achieve.

We begin by congratulating the matrics of 2012, whose excellent results placed Herzlia in the Top Ten Schools in the Western Cape. With Herzlia being an all-inclusive school, this is especially an incredible achievement. Mazeltov to each and every matric and all parents, teachers and staff!

At the same time, there is always room to further reach our potential, and in this issue we can see how communal organisations and individuals are continuing to confront challenges and reach new goals. On page 4, Eshed Cohen queries some pertinent issues regarding education; and his article is placed in a new section entitled ‘Safe Spaces’, where we invite community members to write about topical and debatable issues in a ‘safe’ and respectful environment.
This issue is also full of interesting interviews with a range of people from across the spectrum, and we hope you will enjoy reading about their adventures and insights. Our new ‘Success Stories’ section is an exciting addition to the paper, and we invite you to share your successes with us.

On that note, we wish all our readers across the world a very successful 2013!
