2013 July

Despite the winter weather, the Cape Town Jewish community is still as busy as ever, which is evident in this issue of the Chronicle.

In this edition we explore the strong connections in the community; as well as the dynamism of our diversity.

From opinion pieces and news to arts and culture; from events and activities to outreach and initiatives; you can read about the many ways that community members are connecting to each other and the world around them.

We also feature exclusive interviews with Professor Karabus and Mervyn Smith (see pages 1 and 4); and articles about everything from chocolate workshops in Israel (page 36) to the Maputo Shul being restored (page 37).

You can also enjoy reading about the latest community events, like YAD’s ‘Bingo for Bucks!’(page27), the Union of Jewish Women’s 80th AGM (page 19), the farewell to Ambassador Dov Segev-Steinberg (page 14), and Temple Israel hosting a gathering for LGBTI Jews (page 25).

So wherever you are in the world; sit back, relax, and enjoy reading this issue of the CJC!
