This issue of the Cape Jewish Chronicle was put together while events in Israel were developing into an escalated conflict.
From grieving the three Israeli teens who were murdered, to our horror at the revenge killing of an Arab boy, to watching rockets fall on Tel Aviv, our hearts and mind were certainly with Israel.
But at the same time the Cape Town Jewish community continues to thrive, and this issue of the Chronicle captures exciting recent and upcoming events.
We also feature fascinating articles, including an interview with retired rugby ref Jonathan Kaplan. Other interviews are with Sheryl Ozinsky, who tells us about the community spirit of the Oranjezicht City Farm; and Anne Brest, who reveals how she as a Jewish mother dealt with her daughter’s addiction.
We hope that you will enjoy all that this issue has to offer, and that if you have not contributed your voluntary subscription to the Chronicle for 2014, you are inspired to do so! (See page 32 for details).
