2014 October

This month we have a special focus on leadership. This ranges from an article on a new book about the Rebbe – the quintessential Jewish leader (page 31) to an interview with Daphna Horowitz, who derived ‘leadership lessons’ from climbing Kilimanjaro (page 35).

It is also inspiring to see how our youth are taking on leadership roles. The annual summer machanot are the perfect environment for this, and it is wonderful to read how these young leaders are taking this process forward. See more on page 34.

The annual Limmud Conference (page 1 and 7) is another example of community leadership, where volunteers put together an incredible weekend of Jewish learning, and everyone plays their part.
The Shabbos Project is coming up this month, kicking off with a worldwide challah bake! See more information on pages 28-29.

One opportunity to be a leader is to contribute your annual voluntary subscription to the Chronicle. We know times are tough, and will still continue sending the paper to the whole community. However, if you can contribute (even if it is not the entire amount), we would appreciate if you could lead the way in paying your voluntary subscription. See details on page 21.

The Cape Jewish Chronicle wishes you and your family a safe and meaningful Fast.
