Young Israeli inspires WIZO AGM audience

Close to 130 BZA WIZO members and guests gathered at the Marais Road Shul hall in early February for the organisation’s 118th annual general meeting.

Guest speaker from Israel, Asif Izak, was a breath of fresh air, giving a most interesting and encouraging talk on improving volunteer commitment and numbers. A guest of the SAZF, Asif is head of the Carmel Coast Regional Council on Israel’s Mediterranean coastline. He drew many parallels between the challenges faced by both Israeli and South African volunteer organisations, from the perspective of the younger generation.

BZA WIZO Chairman, Janene Currie, reported on the highlights of 2019, presenting some special awards to a few remarkable members of its Executive for their exceptional commitment, dedication and leadership. In acknowledgement of World WIZO’s 100th anniversary celebrations. 

Janene also honoured the chairmen and members of the 13 WIZO Cape Town branches for their generous contribution of time, energy and enthusiasm. WIZO also thanked their sponsors, whose generosity made it a very special event.
