Marais Road Shul’s Bat Mitzvah Club has become the premier address for Cape Town’s Jewish community to learn about becoming Bat Mitzvah.
Over a period of 15 sessions, the girls learn much about themselves and their Jewish identity through a blend of creative activities and lessons. Amazingly, attendance is almost 100%!
600 people gathered as 24 young ladies presented the theme ‘What’s in a name?’ Produced by Rebbetzin Sara Wineberg and arranged by Cantor Ivor Joffe, the Cantor led a musical quartet, which was melodiously supported by the Marais Road Shul Choir. Together they created magic! As one congregant, who has been to all six graduations, said, “I have no kids in the programmes but I never miss this event”
