Temple’s Tachlis Hold ‘Em a tremendous success

In one of our most successful fundraisers ever, the inaugural Temple Israel Tachlis Hold ‘Em Casino Evening was held at the BMW Auto Atlantic showroom in Cape Town on 23 May.

Over 200 people attended the event in aid of Temple Israel Social Action (TISA), Jewish Community Services and the development of our congregation.

At the entrance each person was given a stack of chips to go and play. People crowded around the poker, blackjack and roulette tables in the centre of the room, others headed for the fantastic food, generously and deliciously provided by The Green Dolphin, and the rest were enjoying themselves eating chocolate mousse in the coffee bar upstairs.

Everyone felt the great energy and excitement in the room, which didn’t stop until midnight. Mark Bernberg from The Poker Room kept the evening flowing and even those who were not winning big at the tables still walked away with some great spot prizes. And all eyes in the room were on the table of great giveaways, from holidays to art to leather jackets, the rare bottle of King George V Johnnie Walker whiskey and the 42” flatscreen TV.

A special vote of thanks to Dean Sandler, who spent countless hours turning this event into the fantastic success it was.
