You can make a huge difference by assisting school children in need

Rubiโ€™s Rainbow of Hope was started last January by (then) 10-year-old Rubi, a pupil at Herzlia Constantia, and her mom Janene Nates.

The charity was started with a shoe collection (featured previously in the CJC). The original target was to collect 1000 pairs of shoes but they eventually stopped after collecting over 4000 pairs.

Rubiโ€™s Rainbow of Hopeโ€™s next project was collecting books for underprivileged schools, crรจches, hospitals and the establishment of libraries. They collected over 5000 books and distributed them to over 20 beneficiary schools and organisations.

Their latest collection is stationery and backpacks. RRH are collecting all old (and new) stationery… from pens to pencil crayons, glue to sharpeners. They are also collecting exercise books which are unused, or have had a few used pages removed so that they can be donated as new books.

What they also really need is backpacks for school kids who are currently using plastic packets to carry their books. Any school bags appropriate for Grade R โ€” Matric would be greatly appreciated.
Unbranded school uniforms and too-small school shoes are always in need and will be distributed to children in the farm communities of the Western Cape.
