On a beautiful day in early May, 28 four-ball teams teed off together at King David Mowbray (KDM) at the start of WIZO’s 12th Sponsor-a-Child Golf Day.
Thanks to the superb organisation of convener, Donné Querido, the teams made smooth progress around the course, which was in great condition. At the close of play, the winning teams were rewarded by an incredible array of prizes, thanks to our most generous sponsors.
A ‘thoroughly enjoyable day of golf”, “we will definitely be back next year”, were just two of the comments overheard as the golfers came in from the course for a delicious supper prepared by the catering team at KDM.
Funds raised will go to WIZO’s Sponsor-A-Child fund for disadvantaged youth, and a South African NGO called Woman of Virtue, which ensures that young schoolgirls are provided with sanitary towels, enabling them to attend school throughout the year.
