Cape SAJBD Community Announcement

On 5 December 2019, the Cape Board hosted a Special General Meeting. 

The meeting was quorate and began with an introduction by chairperson, Rael Kaimowitz, explaining the reasons and background as to why the resolution was necessary. 

The delegates present voted for or against the advertised resolution: 

RESOLVED THAT the Constitution be amended by the deletion of clause 19(a) thereof in its entirety and the substitution in its stead with the following: 

“19(a) The election of twelve (12), or up to a further three (3) members to make up for any shortfall in the election of the three (3) members as provided for in clause 20(a), of the Cape Committee shall take place at a Meeting of the Council, which Meeting of the Council shall be held not later than (‘election date’): 

(i) Two calendar years following the previous Cape Council Conference; or 

(ii) Any date fixed at a Meeting of the Council by two-thirds of the majority of the persons present and entitled to vote at such a Meeting of the Council.”

The current elected Cape Board will therefore serve for an additional period that will not exceed 30 September 2020.

The resolution was passed with 38 people in agreement, two against and no spoilt ballots.
