Coffee Time hosted bride-to-be Natalia Segerman and her guests for her bachelorette party in January. Natalia and Ryan Rabinowitz were married on 19 January in Cape Town. They also enjoyed spending time in the Astra workshops doing crafts with the workers.

David and Maeve Samuels make Aliyah

Astra bids farewell to David and Maeve Samuels — two of the Centre’s most valuable volunteers, who gave of their time for more than 20 years.

Maeve’s quiet and calming presence at Coffee Time, both in the bakery and as front-of-house, was incredibly beneficial — especially during frenetic times!  David worked tirelessly project-managing all the new building developments that took place during this time. These include Coffee Time as well as the three beautiful Group Homes which are internationally acclaimed facilities.  David and Maeve will be missed by Staff and Workers alike. We wish them well and look forward to seeing them on future visits to Cape Town.

A magical Chanukah party

Astra workers were kept entertained with music by Ivor Joffe and magic by Greg Gelb at the annual Chanukah Party. The party was sponsored by Saville and Shelly Furman.
