This phenomenal display has shown that, yet again, the people of South Africa stand by the people of Israel at this exceptionally challenging and heart-breaking time. The outpouring of support that our community has received is consistent with our experience over the last few years.
Despite the lack of condemnation at the loss of innocent Israeli lives from our government and in spite of the statements on the conflict by the ANC, there has been a flood of solidarity with the Jewish State and our local Jewish community from average South Africans from all walks of life and communities.
South Africans from across civil society, the interfaith sector, political parties and business have approached the SAJBD to express their shock and outrage at the massacre in Israel and their condolences to those who have lost their lives in the brutality.
