BBYO is the world’s leading Jewish teen-led organisation. BBYO chapters around the world have been providing exceptional leadership and identity-enrichment experiences, shaping the confidence and character of over 80 000 Teens annually across 60 countries, and hundreds of communities. With our core values of; Inclusivity, Jewish Identity, Active Leadership, Tradition & Zionism, Chesed & Tikkun Olam – BBYO South Africa has made monumental impacts on our community over the past year.
Starting 2024 off strong, BBYO SA sent 20 leadership-focused teens to our International Convention to Orlando Florida – The largest gathering of Jewish Teens in the world! Our South African delegation had the opportunity to learn, engage and network with like-minded youth, as well as global leaders, politicians, lawyers and celebrities.
In June of this year BBYO sent a delegation on our flagship programme – Volunteer Israel. This 10-day service based trip offered Teens the opportunity to lend a hand where it is needed most. Teens participated in volunteer experiences, met with political leaders, and survivors of the Nova festival to return with a love, appreciation and empowered stance towards our homeland.
With our Teens leading our activities on the ground, BBYO South Africa membership has now reached over 200 Teens nationally, with 500 more engaged and involved – open to all Jewish identifying Teens ages 13-17. If you would like to know more about BBYO South Africa, and how your Teen can be involved please reach out to our Regional Director Martine Katz (martinekatz@bbyo.org), follow us on Instagram @bbyo.sa, or visit our website www.bbyo.org.
