Herzlia’s Stockshockers win June JSE Challenge
Pictured above – Herzlia High School “Stockshockers” Joel Shamley, Daniel Geva, Aryeh Robins Kallmann, and Michael Maher were the June monthly winners in the annual JSE Schools Investment Challenge. Pupils are given a virtual R1m to invest in the JSE over a period of 6 months from February to September.
National Junior Debating League Herzlia champions
Herzlia High School Junior Debating teams excelled at the Cape Town Schools Debating League Champs.
Science Expo winners dream big & experiment bigger
Herzlia High School Gr9 pupils can choose virtually any topic in their ESTEAM science expo project across the fields of scientific investigation, mathematical statistics, computer science, engineering and social science. Kol Hakavod to the 2024 Gr9s as 38/53 projects were selected for this year’s regional Science Expo in August!

Special moment when our Gr3s get their very first, very own Siddur, to treasure on the special chag of Shavuot at both Marias Road (Weizmann Primary) and Gardens Shul (Highlands Primary).
Taekwondo titans shine at SA Champs
Gr11 pupils, Benjamin Lazarus and Daniel Geva, competed in the SA Taekwondo Champs in JHB. Benjamin Lazarus won Gold in Junior Male sparring, Silver in Adult Male sparring, was awarded Best Junior Male and captained the SA team in Team sparring, who won a Silver medal. Daniel Geva also won Gold in patterns, Silver in Under-17 sparring and was part of the sparring team that won Silver.
Checkmate for Herzlia’s maths and chess champ
Liam Baruch (Herzlia High School Gr10) made it to the 3rd and final round of the 2024 SA Maths Olympiad (SAMO). He has made it to the finals of every SAMO he’s entered… 3 years in a row! Liam also still found time to compete in the JHB SA Junior Chess Closed Champs finishing in the top 3 in the country in his age group and was selected to represent SA internationally in 2024.
Canoeing to victory & WC colours
Highlands Primary Gr6 pupil, Hanna Solomon, competed in the 2024 SA Canoe Marathon Champs winning Gold in the K1 – 15km race, Bronze in the K2 – 15km race and awarded WC provincial colours. Hanna says “I just love the sport. I feel happy when I paddle. It’s hard to explain”.
Highlands Primary swimmer making waves
Mikayla Wilensky (Highlands Primary Gr5) was voted Best Junior Female Swimmer at her club, Aqua Sharks Academy Point, and was also a gold medal winner in Oudtshoorn at the Regional Age Group Champs in April for 100m fly.
Dancing their way overseas
Herzlia High School Gr8s Lily Aufrichtig, Alyssa de Jager and Rebecca Cross, part of the “Swagsters” crew, qualified at the 2024 SA Sport Aerobic, Fitness & Hip Hop Champs to represent SA internationally.
Aimee Hutchison dancing to Portugal
Herzlia High School Gr11 Aimee Hutchison and her Hip Hop crew competed in Regionals and won 1st place in Nationals achieving WP and Protea Colours. They’ll be competing in their Springbok colours in the World Hip Hop Champs in September in Portugal. Behatzlacha!
Hip hopping to gold
Eve Dorrington (Herzlia Highlands Primary Gr5) and her sister Liv Dorrington danced their hearts out representing WC for their Gold Award in the 12/U WTC Hip Hop National Champs.
Sindler sisters doing it together
Highlands Primary’s Sindler sisters gymnastics achievements at the district trials were double the nachas for their family.
Spotlight on Speech & Drama Eisteddfod
Lila Flax (Highlands Primary Gr5 – not pictured) and Emily Jocum (Highlands Primary
Gr5 – not pictured), participated in the Solo Poem and Dramatic Extract Sections.
Their group obtained Cum Laude and won the award for Best Group Piece

Game, set and match for Rafa Palmer (Weizmann Primary Gr6) who made the Western Province Tennis A Team!
Zac is #1 in Pokémon
Zac Aufrichtig (Highlands Primary Gr6) is ranked #1 in his age group in SA for Pokémon TCG and will compete in the Pokemon World Champs in Hawaii.
