The time since last October’s traumatic day has left our community broken yet resilient, holding onto the hope that has defined us for thousands of years. Habonim Cape Town was honoured to help plan the October 7th community memorial. Though we are far from the closure we need, it is vital to gather in person. This Yom Kippur offers a moment for internal reflection – in the face of the destruction of the Second Temple, an event which changed Jewish history forever, we are now given the opportunity for the same type of reflection. After Yom Kippur, we bid farewell to our Shlichot, Amit and Hadar, whose energy enriched the Cape Town community. We will miss their amazing spirit, and hope to see them back in Cape Town soon!
