27 January marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Cape Town’s Ben-Zion Surdut, a former Chair of the Cape Jewish Chronicle Editorial Board, shared with us an item from his own collection of items of Jewish interest – a find that reminds us of the horrors of Auschwitz. This concentration and death camp was liberated by Russian forces on 27 January 1945.
