Giving back

There are numerous ways to give back to society. And there is no better feeling than giving of oneself.

Giving back doesn’t always require grand gestures or significant financial investments. Being part of a community includes having the opportunity to contribute, support, and make a positive impact on the lives of those around you. Even small, thoughtful actions can go a long way towards creating a sense of unity and kindness within your community.

Our community has an incredible ethos of giving back and being involved, and many people give of themselves to enhance the well-being of others. So many people have talents that can be shared with others, and it is so easy for you to identify an activity in which to share your talents so that you feel a sense of happiness and satisfaction.

Our volunteers regularly provide hours of happiness and give fulfilment to our members as they willingly interact and teach. Although we are blessed to be on the receiving end at CJSA , we see that our volunteers also benefit from this interaction and leave each session fulfilled and happy with the joy that they have given, and in many cases, receive as much as they give – probably more.

A truly happy life comes from giving more than you take: helping where you can; being there when you can; encouraging when you can; and simply being kind to others really enhances the life of both the giver and the recipient.

It’s been said that, “Life is a choice between ageing and growing. Ageing adds years to life and growing adds life to years – so live your life and forget your age.”

CJSA activities

Our three-night visit to Goudini is fully booked, and those participating have already expressed their happiness about the event. We will look into a trip to another venue for later in the year and hopefully we will have sufficient interest to make the break worthwhile.

One of our newest activities is the ancient game of Mahjong and the class is growing weekly.  If anyone has a Mahjong set no longer in use, we will happily look after it for you. Our Southern Suburbs branch has added craft mornings, while in Sea Point we have a weekly conversational Hebrew class which is proving to be popular.

Generally, CJSA is an exceptionally happy place: we have many new members joining in for  our activities, and 2025 membership fees are being paid – we are grateful for this.

May 2025 bring you good health, much joy and good times and many opportunities to live life to the fullest participating in our programmes whenever possible.
