Mandela Day Activities

WIZO Cape Town

In the spirit of Mandela Day, our incredible WIZO volunteers came together to make sandwiches for the children and families supported by Mamma Mickey’s Soup Kitchen and Crèche.

It was a simple act of kindness, but one that reminds us how powerful it is when a community comes together to care for others. “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” – Nelson Mandela

Our Volunteers made sandwiches for some Capetonians in need, and donated knitted dolls and beanies to children at an ECD.

Union of Jewish Women

We joined the wonderful residents of Spes Bona (Jewish Community Services Cape Town) to decorate and ice cupcakes for 67 minutes in honour of Mandela Day. The beautifully decorated cupcakes will be distributed to ECDs in Kensington. There was plenty of laughter, creativity and community spirit, and both the volunteers and residents thoroughly enjoyed the morning together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Spes Bona for partnering with us in this meaningful initiative and helping us make every minute count.

In the true spirit of Mandela Day, we came together to pack comfort bags for survivors of domestic violence. A huge thank you to everyone who so generously donated goods and funds to make this initiative possible. Your kindness and compassion will bring comfort, dignity and hope to those facing some of life’s most difficult moments.  Together, we are making a meaningful difference—one comfort bag at a time.
