On Monday May 31 audiences at the Cape Town Convention Centre were wowed by our spectacular celebrate 70 — a stage show which starred Herzlians past and present. Directed by Roxy Levy, Aviva Pelham and their artistic team of Linda Gawronsky, Jacqui Kowen, Ivor Joffe and Selwyn Schneider, our alumni performers strutted their stuff as they moved with ease from one genre to the next, bringing tears to our eyes.
One ‘old boy’ felt compelled to write about his participation in the show. Thank you for inviting me to participate in the celebrations. It was a privilege (for the oldest old boy there -1942) to perform in a stupendous production and made me very proud of being able to say that I belong. The class act that was produced and the wonderful talent that was showcased made me very emotional and proud of my people.
Please pass on my good wishes to all responsible and I hope that I may be included in what is still to come.

Debate – Tuesday 3 August
Alumni versus pupils debate: Lecture Theatre at 8.00pm. The debate will have a formal and an impromptu section, with a break for tea/ coffee in between.
The Topic for formal debate – ‘Is formal tertiary education essential for success in the big, wide world?’
Proposing the topic will be the High School first debating team and opposing will be a team of alumni and parents – Steven Sherman, Arthur Gillis, Paul Simon and Daniel Kaliski.

Yom Herzlia – Thursday 5 August
Our schools will be celebrating Herzlia’s 70th birthday with cake and parties. Each pupil will receive a wonderful 70th Anniversary t-shirt. The Middle and High Schools will be entertained by comedian and educator – Alan Committee. It promises to be a day of fun and laughter.
