The SAZF (Cape Council), UJC and SAJBD (Cape Council) warmly welcomed the new Israeli Ambassador to South Africa, His Excellency Arthur Lenk, on his first official visit to Cape Town.
At a function held at Highlands House, the Ambassador shared his plan to bring the Israeli Embassy to Cape Town for a week, in order to make its consulate services more accessible to our community.
During his stay, Ambassador Lenk managed to attend and address both an Orthodox as well as a Progressive shul service. Contact was also made with Christian leaders as well as a visit to the oldest mosque in Bo-Kaap with members of the Muslim community.
On Heritage Day, Ambassador Lenk and his family visited Robben Island.
The community looks forward to many more visits from Ambassador Lenk and his family.
