WIZOโs Gilah branch recently hosted its annual โpersonalityโ morning โ a sold-out event featuring Lisa Chait in conversation with renowned artist and sculptor, Malka Nedivi.
Malka lives and works in Los Angeles, and is the only child of Holocaust survivor parents. When she discovers her mother has become a hoarder and subsists on mouldy bread, Malka puts her own life on hold and moves to Israel to take care of her.
Lisaโs insightful exploration of Malkaโs unusual childhood and relationship with her mother, gave the audience a glimpse into the psychological effects of surviving the Holocaust, hoarding, ageing, and coming to terms with parenting our own parents. The interview was followed by a screening of Malkaโs documentary, Tziporaโs Nest.
This event was made possible with the kind sponsorship of Shelley Friedman from the George Elkin Trust, and the generous and warm hospitality of Shirley Lipshitz of the Clarendon Hotel.
