The Academy of Jewish Thought and Learning launched a youth division called imAloud this year and our first programme was an international public speaking competition, Mikolot, open to all Jewish Grade 10-12s.
We are proud to announce that Micaela Reznik, who represented imAloud and The Academy of Jewish Thought & Learning at the Mikolot International Finals, held in partnership with Moriah College in Sydney, Australia, came 3rd in the competition. Micaela made the South African community, her school Yeshiva College and the Academy extremely proud. The competition was held on Sunday 17 September 2017 and finalists included students from across Australia, with Micaela being the sole representative from South Africa.
We look forward to running the Mikolot programme again in 2018 and welcome entries from across South Africa.
