Announcement following Special General Meeting

Chairperson Rael Kaimowitz takes attendees through new constitution and electoral process.

On 16 February 2020, the Cape SAJBD hosted a special general meeting to seek approval from its affiliates for its new constitution. Chairperson Rael Kaimowitz took the delegates through the new constitution and electoral document. The 52 voting delegates voted on the following resolution:

SPECIAL RESOLUTION NO. 001-2020 SPECIAL RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION

  1. RESOLVED AND AGREED TO amend the clause 10.2g) in the circulated proposed new constitution, reading as follows: “Successful applicant’s details must be forwarded to the SAJBD”, to be changed to read as: “Successful applicant’s details must be forwarded to the SAJBD for acceptance.”

It was passed by a unanimous decision by a show of hands of 52 in favour.

SPECIAL RESOLUTION NO. 002-2020 SPECIAL RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A NEW CONSTITUTION OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN JEWISH BOARD OF DEPUTIES (CAPE COUNCIL)

  1. RESOLVED in accordance with Par 29 of the constitution adopted on 10 August 2004 and as amended on 18 July 2013 together with Special Resolution 001-2020, to adopt, in full, a new constitution of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (Cape Council).

It was passed by a unanimous decision by a show of hands of 51 in favour, 0 against and 1 abstention.

On 29 March, the matter of the Cape Constitution was tabled at a South African Jewish Board of Deputies National Executive Council Meeting and passed.
