A busy quarter for the Union of Jewish Women

2024 started off with a bang with many donations being made to worthy organisations. These include soft toys, school books, children’s clothes, beanies, stationery and knitted blankets.

We have supported our community by hosting “Feeling Fragile” workshops facilitated by two professionals. A safe space that has brought comfort and insight to those attending.

We knitted beanies for IDF soldiers, and to date we have sent over 300 beanies to Israel.

We collected brand new children’s clothing for children in Israel for Chanukah.

Our branches have also been very busy with handouts, workshops and fundraising.

The Flower Group is selling beautiful gifts all year round – gifts perfect for Shabbat, special occasions and thank yous. Available at Stonehaven every day from 8am-1.30pm. All proceeds are used to support their projects.

The Giving Bag CT made up 70 bags of clothing, shoes, toiletries, books and toys which were donated to a farm school in Joostenbergvlakte as well as an informal settlement in Wynberg. 25 bags of children‘s clothing, shoes, books and toys were handed over to Siyabonga from Langa for Men. Boxes of stationery and toys were donated to Westlake Primary School.

Together with The Giving Bag CT we gifted baby bags to mothers and babies in the Tygerberg Hospital Neonatal ward, as well as a small gift to the dedicated staff for their wonderful work. Baby bags were handed out to mothers at Somerset Hospital.

Mama Flo held a day of planning, brainstorming, and bonding with their ambassadors.

Joining Bnei Akiva, we baked yummy hamantaschen for Purim.

A super morning was spent practising yoga.

A Volunteer Appreciation Event was held to thank our partners, volunteers and donors for their support in 2023.

We appreciate all the donations and support we have received so far this year and have distributed to many worthy recipients.

Chag Sameach.
