Volunteer at Mensch Mitzvah Day to make a difference

During November, over 55 000 people around the world come together to give their time, not money, to make a difference to the community around them. Mitzvah Day introduces people to social action – setting up volunteering projects to address real needs.

The idea for Mitzvah Day goes back to the year 2000 and started in the UK. It has since become the UK’s largest faith-led day of social action.

Mensch brought the Mitzvah Day concept to Southern Africa in 2018, and has been successful in curating over 92 volunteering projects with many Mensch Mitzvah Day initiatives having had a significant impact since then.

This year, Mensch’s Flagship project is the Mitzvah Day Community Cook Up, which will take place on Sunday, 24 November. Working at the Love in a Bowl Organic Farm in Hout Bay, volunteers will harvest, prep and cook 2 800 meals for children. This project follows from Mensch’s Mandela Day initiative when food parcels were prepared and packed for creches.

If you’d like to get involved on Sun 24 Nov, book your spot here.
