Better together

Bnei channichim and madrichim standing in the sukkah they decorated at Morasha Shul

By Jessica Conné

October has been a month of much simcha and much sorrow.

Reflecting on the simcha, Bnei Akiva Cape Town had fun this Sukkot! The different shichavot started off Sukkot celebrations by making Sukkah decorations for Morasha Shul and then came together one afternoon before EQT to hang all the decorations up!

We then ran our first Sukkah Hop in years! Over 45 channichim in our younger shichavot joined in a night of hopping from Sukkah to Sukkah all over Sea Point! Thank you to the five families who hosted our wonderful channichim and madrichim! We have already been asked by channichim for another Sukkah Hop next year!

Next came Simchat Torah! Morasha Shul generously allowed Bnei Akiva to raise money for channichim to attend end-of-year camp, Hayinu Kcholmim, which we are grateful for. Despite the devastating news coming out about Israel at that time, Simchat Torah was still a moment of simcha and togetherness.

On Thursday night we hosted a meaningful and beautiful unity event to honour the soldiers fighting for Am Yisrael. Bnei Madrichim, Chanichim and Bogrim came together and expressed much-needed words of inspiration, support and upliftment. We sang, we danced and we watched videos presenting the true unity and resilience of Am Yisrael.

Lastly, our new shlichim have been incredible! They will be returning to Israel soon to be with family, but we are excited to welcome them back!

Keep up to date!
