The onset of summer brings the Drumstruck experience to us for its 3rd season! Cape Town’s Warren Lieberman is yet again offering a fun-filled – and educational – drumming event at Constantia’s Silvermist Farm.
Warren established Drum Café in 1995 in post-apartheid South Africa, understanding the value that drumming together can bring to diverse groups of people. As he says, “Drumming together is a unifying activity that breaks down barriers of age, religion, race and gender.”
Drumstruck is a fully interactive drum-theatre show in which audience members both watch skilled performers on a stage and participate in the drumming experience themselves. And, in addition to the thrill of the drumming activity, the audience hears from Warren and some of his team about traditional South African musical instruments. He shares his passion for the heritage of our music, explaining how music was first made in southern Africa and how it has evolved.
So, if you want to participate in a really special family-friendly entertainment event that everyone will enjoy, join the drumming at Drumstruck at Silvermist this summer. It’s suitable for everyone: from Bobba to young children, who will also love tumbling about on the farm’s lawns while the adults enjoy the view and the wine-tasting. And the family may also want to enjoy the optional braai available after each show.
CapeTown’s Di Dos Santos attended last year’s show, commenting that “We had a memorable and enjoyable outing, combining the pleasures of wine-tasting with the cultural richness of the Drumstruck performance. It’s a great way to appreciate both the local wine and the arts in a beautiful setting.”
You can book for the show through Webtickets. Shows take place on weekends at 11.30am and 3.30pm during November, and daily from Wednesday to Sunday during December.
