The Cape Jewish Chronicle was thrilled to be offered sets of tickets for Warren Lieberman’s Drumstruck show. Two faithful readers had their names selected as winners of the double tickets, and both gifted their prizes to close family members. Noah Chait offered his to his two daughters who live in Cape Town, Lisa Chait and Jodi Ramsay; and Denise Bremridge gave them to her grandson, Kieran Hozack and his girlfriend, Sophie, who were on holiday in Cape Town from the UK.

Lisa and Jodi attended the event on the same day as the first three hostages were due to be released under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Lisa commented that, “The fact we were monitoring the release of Romi, Emily and Doron at the same time as enjoying the Drumstruck show made it extra special! And we drummed in celebration! Am Yisroel Chai!”

For Kieran and Sophie, the experience was truly special, and they commented on the beauty of the surrounds – the show is held at the stunning Silvermist Organic Wine Farm on Constantia Nek. They felt that the whole experience was most memorable.

Lisa explains some of the background to the show, saying, “Drumstruck is a highly professional show with hugely talented performers. The show has been taken all over the world, playing in large theatres, and has now been adapted for a smaller, more intimate venue at Silvermist. It’s been cleverly located within Warren’s fascinating African musical instrument museum which is housed on the estate. A great concept!”

The audience is given the opportunity both to watch the performance and also to drum themselves. As Jodi points out, “When it was our turn to drum with the performers we went for it full force and loved every minute of it!”

In addition to the actual show, the audience has the opportunity to learn about organic wine production from Silvermist winemaker and owner, Gregory Brink Louw, who, explains Lisa, “gave us some really interesting insights into the history of winemaking in the Constantia Valley.”

All four loved the show, and recommend this special treat to everyone.
